Surgical Science

Surgical Science develops high-quality tools for the Assessment, Training and future Certification of medical professionals.

Using cutting-edge simulation technology and wide-ranging knowledge of the needs of the medical community, we are committed to developing tools that will help train safer surgeons faster. Systems that build skills that actually transfer into the operating room.

Based in Goteborg, Sweden, we maintain close ties to the Goteborg University. Through ongoing research and close cooperation with the medical community, we will continue to provide professionals worldwide with the means to improve surgical training and practice.

LapSim Basic Skills

LapSim Basic Skills is the first of a series of tools for the assessment, training and future certification of surgeons.

By realistically recreating the basic steps and environment of minimally invasive abdominal surgery, LapSim Basic Skills builds skills that really transfer into the OR. The amount of training and practice time available to both aspiring surgeons and experienced professionals is dramatically increases. But that's not all.

Extensive task and course tailoring functions, along with advanced features for the recording and processing of results, provide a means of benchmarking surgical skills. With LapSim Basic Skills, certified laparoscopy training is just around the corner.

LapSim Dissection

LapSim Dissection is the first software expansion for LapSim Basic Skills, accurately simulating a critical phase in the frequently performed laparoscopic cholecystectomy procedure: the dissection and subsequent clipping and cutting of the gall bladder's bile ducts and blood vessels. A common enough procedure, it is nevertheless demanding one. If and when mistakes and errors occur, they may lead to severe complications that are both hazardous to the patient and potentially costly to the clinic performing the procedure. LapSim Dissection aims at reducing this risk by improving skills in a safe, simulated environment.
